Abstract
Desain biofilik merupakan pendekatan dalam arsitektur yang berupaya menghubungkan manusia dengan alam melalui elemen-elemen seperti cahaya alami, vegetasi, dan pola alami dalam ruang buatan. Salah satu aspek yang masih jarang difokuskan dalam desain biofilik adalah pengalaman ruang dan tempat, yang mencakup atribut seperti prospect and refuge, organized complexity, mobility, transitional spaces, and integration parts to create wholes. Aspek ini penting karena secara langsung memengaruhi persepsi kenyamanan, orientasi, dan rasa aman pengguna dalam ruang, khususnya bagi individu yang memerlukan stimulasi yang mendukung kesejahteraan mental dan fisik mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penerapan desain biofilik dalam fasilitas perawatan lansia, khususnya pada panti wreda yang menampung lansia dengan demensia. Dengan mengidentifikasi cara pengintegrasian atribut biofilik pada aspek ketiga, penelitian ini berupaya menyusun strategi desain yang dapat membantu meningkatkan kualitas hidup penghuni panti wreda melalui lingkungan yang lebih nyaman dan mendukung kesehatan mental mereka.

Biophilic design is an architectural approach that seeks to connect humans with nature through elements such as natural light, vegetation, and natural patterns within built spaces. One aspect rarely focused on in biophilic design is the experience of space and place, encompassing attributes such as prospect and refuge, organized complexity, mobility, transitional spaces, and the integration of parts to create wholes. This aspect is crucial because it directly influences users' perceptions of comfort, orientation, and sense of safety within a space, particularly for individuals who require stimulation that supports their mental and physical well-being. This study aims to explore the application of biophilic design in senior care facilities, specifically nursing homes that accommodate seniors with dementia. By identifying ways to integrate biophilic attributes in these three aspects, this study seeks to develop design strategies that can help improve the quality of life for nursing home residents through a more comfortable environment and support for their mental health.
