Abstract

This architectural design project adopts multisensory architecture as its theoretical foundation, emphasizing the role of visual experience and embodied spatial flow in shaping perception, rhythm, and atmosphere. This approach is rooted in the belief that architecture should evoke emotion, promote well-being, and respond to users natural behavior. Initiated by a reflective inquiry within the Concept-based Framework: What if architecture could become an active medium to shape a healthy culture as part of daily working environments? It addresses the increasing issue of fragmented routines among students and urban youth aged 17–25, where work, physical activity, and social engagement are often separated. The design proposes a new typology—a sports-working space—that merges work, workout, and leisure within one seamless spatial journey. The design process incorporates embodied user experience through flow-based zoning, activity mapping, and sensory sequencing based on daily rhythms and transitions. The design research is supported by site-context analysis, behavioral studies, and precedent evaluations.
The final design captures three key user moments—working, exercising, and relaxing—through dynamic formal expression, a central circular ramp, transitional courtyards, and a vertical jogging track. These elements are spatially integrated to encourage intuitive circulation, active recovery, and social interaction. To deepen the sensory engagements, the design utilize natural light gradients, tactile material palettes, open-air courtyards, and spatial layering are deliberately composed to shape atmosphere, orientation, and movement. The circular ramp becomes a visual and experiential anchor, offering gradual transitions across zones, while the courtyards support sensory reset moments with light, air, and natural textures. The elevated jogging track supports physical activity and offers rhythmic views of the surrounding landscape, enhancing visual continuity and calm. Through this approach, the design redefines hybrid mixed-use environments and offers a novel architectural strategy to promote well-being, embodied movement, and rhythm-based lifestyles for urban youth communities.

Perancangan ini menekankan peran pengalaman visual dan embodied spatial flow dalam membentuk persepsi, ritme, dan atmosfer dengan arsitektur multisensori. Pendekatan ini dilandasi prinsip bahwa arsitektur perlu menyentuh sisi emosional, memperhatikan kesejahteraan, dan mengikuti pola kebiasaan pengguna. Rancangan ini dimulai dari sebuah pertanyaan reflektif dalam Concept-based Framework: Bagaimana jika arsitektur dapat menjadi media aktif untuk membentuk budaya hidup sehat dalam keseharian lingkungan kerja? Desain ini membahas permasalahan meningkatnya fragmentasi rutinitas di kalangan generasi muda perkotaan, di mana produktivitas kerja, aktivitas fisik, dan interaksi sosial sering kali terpisah. Dirancang tipologi baru bernama sports-working space yang memadukan kegiatan bekerja, berolahraga, dan bersantai dalam alur ruang yang terintegrasi. Proses perancangannya menerapkan embodied user experience melalui flow-based zoning, mapping aktivitas, dan spatial sequencing yang mengikuti ritme harian dan transisi sensorik. Penelitian desain ini didukung oleh analisis konteks tapak, studi perilaku, dan evaluasi preseden.
Hasil rancangan merepresentasikan tiga momen utama: bekerja, berolahraga, dan bersantai, melalui ekspresi formal yang dinamis, ramp melingkar di pusat bangunan, courtyard sebagai zona transisi, dan jalur lari vertikal. Elemen-elemen ini terintegrasi secara spasial untuk mendorong sirkulasi intuitif, pemulihan aktif, dan interaksi sosial. Untuk memperkuat pengalaman sensorik, desain melibatkan berbagai indera melalui artikulasi ruang dan strategi material. Gradien cahaya alami, material bertekstur, courtyard terbuka, dan layering ruang disusun untuk membentuk atmosfer, orientasi, dan alur gerak. Ramp berfungsi sebagai pusat orientasi visual dan pengalaman, menawarkan transisi antar zona. Sementara itu, courtyard menciptakan momen pemulihan sensorik lewat cahaya, udara, dan elemen alami. Jalur lari yang ditinggikan mendukung aktivitas fisik sekaligus menyajikan pandangan ritmis ke lanskap, memperkuat kesinambungan visual dan ketenangan gerak. Pendekatan ini memungkinkan desain untuk meredefinisi tipologi mixed-use hybrid, serta memberikan kontribusi arsitektural yang mendukung kesejahteraan, pergerakan yang bersifat embodied, dan gaya hidup seimbang bagi komunitas muda di kawasan perkotaan.
