Abstract

Ludruk merupakan salah satu bentuk seni teater tradisional khas Jawa Timur yang mengandung unsur hiburan, budaya, serta nilai edukatif yang kuat. Namun, seiring perkembangan zaman dan dominasi budaya populer, eksistensi ludruk semakin terpinggirkan, terutama di kalangan Generasi Z sebagai generasi digital yang akrab dengan konten-konten digital yang cepat, ringan, dan visual. Minimnya akses media edukasi yang mampu mengomunikasikan informasi tentang ludruk dengan pendekatan yang relevan dengan perkembangan teknologi dan gaya komunikasi Gen Z menjadi tantangan tersendiri dalam upaya pelestarian budaya ini.
Menanggapi permasalahan tersebut, perancangan ini bertujuan untuk menghadirkan media edukasi berbasis motion graphic berseri dalam format Instagram Reels sebagai media alternatif yang adaptif dan efektif dalam mengenalkan ludruk kepada Generasi Z. Tokoh fiktif Cak Genji dihadirkan sebagai karakter sentral, seorang seniman ludruk yang berupaya menyesuaikan diri dengan dunia digital, yang berperan sebagai jembatan antara budaya tradisional dan budaya populer masa kini. Penyampaian konten dirancang dengan pendekatan visual yang dinamis, narasi yang ringan, serta humor yang disesuai dengan karakteristik target audiens.
Metode perancangan menggunakan pendekatan Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), dengan dukungan riset kualitatif dan kuantitatif melalui studi pustaka, kuesioner, observasi, wawancara narasumber, serta proses eksperimen desain. Hasil akhir dari perancangan ini berupa serangkaian episode motion graphic edukatif yang terdiri dari 4 video berdurasi masing-masing kurang dari 3 menit. Hasil uji desain luaran perancangan ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai N-Gain yang dicapai melebihi 0,7. Hal ini membuktuikan bahwa hasil perancangan ini efektif sebagai media edukasi ludruk untuk Generasi Z melalui Instagram Reels.

Ludruk is a traditional theatrical art form from East Java that embodies strong elements of entertainment, culture, and education. However, with the rise of modern media and the dominance of popular culture, the existence of ludruk has gradually declined, particularly among Generation Z, an audience immersed in fast-paced, lightweight, and highly visual digital content. The limited availability of educational media that can communicate information about ludruk in ways aligned with technological developments and Gen Z’s communication style presents a significant challenge in preserving this cultural heritage.
In response to this issue, this design project aims to develop a serialized motion graphic educational media in the form of Instagram Reels as an adaptive and effective alternative for introducing ludruk to Generation Z. A fictional character named Cak Genji serves as the central, figure portrayed as a ludruk artist striving to adapt to the digital world, functioning as a bridge between traditional culture and contemporary popular trends. The content is designed with a dynamic visual approach, light narrative, and humor tailored to the characteristics of the target audience.
The design process applies the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) framework, supported by qualitative and quantitative research through literature review, questionnaires, observation, expert interviews, and design experimentation. The final outcome consists of four short educational motion graphic episodes, each with a duration of less than three minutes. The design output was evaluated through user testing using the N-Gain scoring method, which resulted in an average score above 0.7. This indicates that the designed media is effective as an educational tool for introducing ludruk to Generation Z via Instagram Reels.
