Abstract

Nirvana Estate diharapkan menjadi contoh hunian kontekstual berbasis desain terapeutik di Indonesia yang relevan bagi masyarakat urban masa kini.=========================================================================================================================================Mental health is a crucial issue in stressful urban life, especially in industrial areas such as Gresik. Based on data showing high stress levels among workers, a new approach is needed in housing design that not only meets physical needs but also supports psychological well-being. This final project designs Nirvana Estate, a residential area in Sidokumpul, Gresik, using a therapeutic architecture approach. This approach emphasises the relationship between users (people), the healing process (process), and physical space (place) in supporting mental well-being. The methodology used is the Force-Based Framework, which begins with site analysis and user needs, then translates these into therapeutic design criteria such as natural lighting, cross-ventilation, natural materials, and interaction with nature. The design outcomes include three housing types (Aruna, Samata, and Lokajiwa) that integrate relaxation spaces, aromatherapy gardens, and communal zones supporting social and personal balance. The implementation of the principles of Care in Community, Design for Domesticity, Social Valorisation, and Integrated with Nature serves as the primary strategy in creating a healing and soothing living environment. Nirvana Estate is expected to become a model of contextual housing based on therapeutic design in Indonesia, relevant for today's urban society
