Abstract

Pelat bilga merupakan salah satu elemen struktural penting pada kapal tanker yang berfungsi sebagai transisi antara dasar kapal dan sisi lambung. Keberadaan kerusakan lokal seperti retak dapat mempengaruhi kekuatan ultimate pelat secara signifikan, terutama ketika pelat mengalami pembebanan tekan akibat kondisi operasional kapal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh retak terhadap kekuatan ultimate pelat bilga dengan menggunakan pendekatan metode elemen hingga (Finite Element Method/FEM). Pemodelan dilakukan pada pelat bilga dengan dimensi 600 × 600 mm dan ketebalan 10 mm yang memiliki kelengkungan dengan jari-jari 2000 mm. Retak dimodelkan sepanjang 100 mm dengan lebar 1 mm , terletak pada bagian permukaan pelat. Simulasi dilakukan dengan memberikan beban tekan dalam dua arah berlawanan hingga mencapai kondisi keruntuhan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan retak menyebabkan penurunan kekuatan ultimate pelat secara signifikan dan mempengaruhi pola distribusi tegangan di sekitar ujung retak. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan dalam mendesain pelat bilga serta pertimbangan dalam proses inspeksi dan pemeliharaan struktur kapal.

The bilge plate is one of the essential structural elements on a tanker ship, functioning as a transition between the bottom of the ship and the side shell. The presence of local damage, such as cracks, can significantly affect the ultimate strength of the plate, especially when it is subjected to compressive loads due to operational conditions. This study aims to analyze the effect of cracks on the ultimate strength of the bilge plate using the Finite Element Method (FEM) approach. The modeling was conducted on a bilge plate with dimensions of 600 × 600 mm and 10 mm of thickness, featuring a curvature with a radius of 2000 mm. A crack measuring 100 mm in length and 1 mm in width was modeled on the surface of the plate. The simulation was carried out by applying compressive loads in two opposing directions until structural failure was reached. The analysis results show that the presence of a crack significantly reduces the ultimate strength of the plate and affects the stress distribution pattern around the crack tip. This study is expected to serve as a reference for designing bilge plates and as a consideration in the inspection and maintenance of ship structures.
