Abstract

Keruntuhan Majapahit sering diabaikan dalam narasi sejarah meskipun memiliki potensi refleksi mendalam dan harapan bagi generasi mendatang. Tantangan utama dalam proyek ini adalah merancang pusat informasi di Zona Cagar Budaya yang mampu menyampaikan cerita tentang keruntuhan Majapahit secara emosional dan universal. Pendekatan ini harus memastikan bahwa narasi kompleks dapat diterjemahkan ke dalam pengalaman spasial yang dapat dipahami oleh pengunjung dengan berbagai latar belakang. Tujuan dari proyek ini adalah menciptakan pusat informasi yang menggunakan elemen naratif dari teori basic arc of narrative dalam cerita keruntuhan Majapahit. Rancangan ini diharapkan mampu menghubungkan pengunjung dengan sejarah, menanamkan refleksi, serta meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya menjaga identitas budaya. Dengan cara ini, pusat informasi tidak hanya menjadi tempat edukasi, tetapi juga simbol kebangkitan dan inspirasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam proyek ini adalah Narrative Architecture dengan pendekatan Concept-Based Framework (Plowright). Proses desain melibatkan identifikasi masalah, pengembangan konsep melalui pemetaan elemen naratif seperti plot, setting, dan karakter, serta penerjemahan konsep tersebut ke dalam elemen arsitektural melalui metode metafora. Metode ini memastikan bahwa narasi keruntuhan Majapahit dapat diwujudkan secara fisik lewat elemen arsitektural dalam desain pusat informasi yang menjadi objek rancang. Hasil yang diharapkan dari proyek ini adalah desain pusat informasi yang mempertanyakan ulang format konvensional dari sebuah pusat informasi dalam memposisikan elemen naratif dan menukar komponen pembentuknya lewat selubung dan struktur guna menceritakan episode dari narasi kehancuran Kerajaan Majapahit di kawasan cagar budaya.

The fall of Majapahit is often overlooked in historical narratives, despite its potential to offer deep reflection and hope for future generations. The main challenge of this project is to design an information center within a Cultural Heritage Zone that can convey the story of Majapahit’s collapse in an emotional and universally accessible way. This approach must ensure that the complexity of the narrative is translated into a spatial experience that can be understood by visitors from diverse backgrounds.The goal of this project is to create an information center that utilizes narrative elements based on the basic arc of narrative theory to tell the story of Majapahit’s downfall. The design is expected to connect visitors with history, evoke reflection, and raise awareness of the importance of preserving cultural identity. In this way, the information center becomes not only a place of education but also a symbol of revival and inspiration. The method used in this project is Narrative Architecture with a Concept-Based Framework approach (Plowright). The design process involves identifying the problem, developing concepts through mapping narrative elements such as plot, setting, and characters, and translating those concepts into architectural elements through the method of metaphor. This method ensures that the story of Majapahit’s collapse is physically manifested in the design of the planned information center. The expected outcome of this project is a design that reconsiders the conventional format of an information center by repositioning narrative elements and changing the structural component within structure and enclosure to tell episodes of the collapse of the Majapahit Kingdom within a cultural heritage site.
