Abstract

Perubahan iklim ekstrem merupakan ancaman nyata yang berdampak langsung terhadap kehidupan manusia, ditandai dengan meningkatnya frekuensi bencana seperti banjir, kekeringan, dan kebakaran hutan. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kepedulian terhadap isu ini adalah melalui media edukatif yang menarik dan mudah dipahami oleh remaja. Tujuan dari perancangan ini adalah menciptakan media komunikasi visual berupa komik digital bergenre fiksi ilmiah (Sci-fi) yang mampu memotivasi remaja usia 15–18 tahun agar lebih peduli terhadap isu perubahan iklim. Metode yang digunakan meliputi studi literatur, analisis komik sejenis (studi eksisting), wawancara dengan narasumber ahli, serta penyebaran kuesioner kepada pembaca komik. Komik berjudul “Distant Future?” dipublikasikan melalui platform Line Webtoon dengan pendekatan naratif berbasis skenario ilmiah dari IPCC. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa komik ini dibaca oleh 262 pengguna, dengan 19 di antaranya mengisi User Test. Dari jumlah tersebut, 10 orang merupakan remaja usia 15–18 tahun. Seluruh responden menyatakan pemahamannya mengenai perubahan iklim meningkat setelah membaca komik. Sebanyak 68% responden, termasuk 7 orang dari target audiens, mengaku lebih termotivasi untuk mengubah perilaku. Sebanyak 84% responden dan 8 dari 10 remaja menyatakan bahwa genre Sci-fi tepat digunakan untuk menyampaikan isu perubahan iklim. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa komik digital bergenre Sci-fi efektif digunakan sebagai media edukasi yang komunikatif dan relevan bagi remaja dalam memahami isu perubahan iklim.

Extreme climate change is a real threat that has a direct impact on human life, characterized by the increasing frequency of disasters such as floods, droughts and forest fires. One of the efforts that can be made to raise wareness of this issue is through educational media that is interesting and easily understood by teenagers. The purpose of this design is to create visual communication media in he form of digital comics in the genre of science fiction (Sci-fi) that can motivate teenagers aged 15-18 years to be more concerned about the issue of climate change. The methods sed include literature studies, analysis of similar comics (existing studies), interviews with expert sources, and distributing questionnaires to comic readers. The comic titled “Distant Future?” is published through the Line Webtoon platform with a narrative approach based on scientific scenarios from the IPCC. The results obtained how that this comic was read by 262 users, with 19 of them filling out the User Test. Of these, 10 were teenagers aged 15-18 years. All respondents stated that their understanding of climate change increased after reading the comic. 68% of respondents, including 7 people from the target audience, claimed to be more motivated to change behavior. As many as 84% of respondents and 8 out of 10 teenagers stated that the Sci-fi genre was appropriate to convey the issue of climate change. It can be concluded that Sci-fi digital comics are effective as a communicative and relevant educational media for teenagers in understanding climate change issues.
