Abstract

==================================================================================================================================
The thrust reverser is a critical aircraft system that aids in deceleration during landing. To ensure safety, the system is equipped with a hydraulic actuator locking mechanism that prevents uncommanded deployment during flight. However, due to its operation under high pressure and extreme conditions, this component is highly susceptible to failure. A malfunction in the actuator locking mechanism can lead to serious consequences, ranging from operational disruptions to potential aviation accidents. This study aims to analyze the failure of the hydraulic actuator locking mechanism in the thrust reverser system using the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method. Through this approach, the root causes of failure are systematically identified, and the probability of failure is calculated to assess the risk level of the component. Additionally, the failure paths are mapped to develop effective preventive measures to enhance system reliability. The results of this study indicate that failures in the actuator locking mechanism are primarily caused by hydraulic seal damage, mechanical wear, and hydraulic fluid contamination. By estimating the failure probability and mean time to failure, a more targeted predictive maintenance strategy can be formulated. This research is expected to contribute to improving the safety and reliability of aircraft hydraulic systems, particularly in the operation of thrust reversers.
