Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan rasio pencampuran (blending) antara Pertalite (RON 90) dan Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) untuk menghasilkan bahan bakar setara Pertamax dengan Octane Number 92. Penelitian eksperimental ini dilakukan dengan melakukan blending kedua bahan bakar dalam empat variasi rasio volume Pertalite:Pertamax Turbo, yaitu 75:25, 78,3:21,7, 80:20, dan 90:10. Karakteristik fisik dan kimia dari sampel hasil blending kemudian diuji dan dibandingkan dengan Pertamax murni. Pengujian meliputi pengukuran bilangan oktan menggunakan Octane Meter, analisis densitas dengan piknometer, dan identifikasi komposisi senyawa hidrokarbon menggunakan Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rasio blending 75% Pertalite dan 25% Pertamax Turbo merupakan komposisi paling optimal, yang menghasilkan nilai Octane Number sebesar 92,8. Nilai ini tidak hanya berhasil mencapai target, tetapi juga melampaui nilai Octane Number Pertamax murni sebesar 92,2 yang mengindikasikan adanya efek sinergis. Analisis GC-MS mengungkapkan bahwa meskipun memiliki basis hidrokarbon aromatik yang serupa, sampel gasoline hasil blending memiliki paket aditif oksigenat superior yang diwariskan dari Pertamax Turbo. Disimpulkan bahwa efek sinergis dari aditif canggih ini merupakan faktor dominan yang meningkatkan performa anti-ketukan, melebihi kontribusi dari proporsi hidrokarbon dasarnya.

This research aimed to determine the blending ratio of Pertalite (RON 90) and Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) to produce a fuel equivalent to Pertamax (RON 92) and to analyze its physicochemical characteristics. This experimental study utilized four volume ratio variations of Pertalite to Pertamax Turbo: 75:25 (linear calculation), 78.3:21.7 (hypothetical BON), 80:20, and 90:10. The blending process was conducted at room temperature (25∘C) with constant stirring at 300 rpm for 3 minutes. Tested parameters included octane number (octane meter), density (pycnometer), and chemical composition (GC-MS), the results of which were compared against a pure Pertamax sample. The results showed that the 75:25 ratio was the most optimal composition, yielding a Research Octane Number (RON) of 92.8, which is significantly higher than the target (92) and the value of pure Pertamax (92.2). This increase is attributed to a synergistic effect from a superior additive package originating from the Pertamax Turbo fraction. GC-MS analysis confirmed that despite a similar aromatic hydrocarbon base, fundamental differences in the oxygenate additive composition were the dominant determining factor for the final octane number, rather than the base hydrocarbon proportions. This finding confirms that additive quality plays a crucial role in fuel blending.
