Abstract

Barringtonia asiatica (keben) is a plants that contains bioactive ingredients in the form of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids which are toxic to the larvae of Spodoptera litura. The development of bioinsecticide formulations in the form of granules has the advantage of more durable storage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of bioinsecticide from keben leaves with granular formulation against armyworm attack on pakcoy. The method used in this research is the extraction method with maceration technique using 96% ethanol. The formulation ingredients consist of keben leaf extract, talcum, Na alginate, tapioca flour, and water. The effectiveness of bioinsecticides from keben leaf extract in the form of granules was carried out by spraying on pakcoy leaves. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with three repetitions of six treatments (K1, K2, K3, P1, P2, P3). Parameters observed were larval mortality and productivity of pakcoy. Data analysis that was not normally distributed was carried out using The Kruskal Wallis non-parametric statistical test and continued with The Mann-Whitney, while the normally distributed data was carried out by the one-way ANOVA parametric test and followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) post-hoc test. The results showed that the granules formulation of bioinsecticide from keben leaf extract affected the mortality of S. litura in pakcoy. The largest percentage of larval mortality occurred in treatment P1 with the formulation of 45 ml of keben leaf extract, 30 g of talcum, 1 g of Na alginate, and 24 g of tapioca flour was 47%. Application of bioinsecticide granules formulation from keben leaf extract did not affect the productivity of pakcoy. The largest wet and dry weights of pakcoy were 31.50 g and 1.99 g in the P3 treatment with the formulation of 45 ml of keben leaf extract, 20 g of talcum, 1 g of Na alginate, and 34 g of tapioca flour.
