Abstract
Teknologi telekomunikasi kini semakin berkembang pesat. Banyak teknologi-teknologi baru yang dikembangkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kita dalam hal kecepatan transmisi data. Salah satunya adalah teknologi UWB (Ultra Wideband) yang Diperkenalkan oleh Federation Communication Commition (FCC) Amerika serikat pada tahun 2002 silam. Agar teknologi UWB dapat bekerja dengan baik tanpa terinterferensi dengan frekuensi lain, dibutuhkan rangkaian filter bandpass yang mampu meloloskan frekuensi dalam range yang diinginkan. Pada tugas akhir ini dibahas perancangan filter bandpass berbasis metamaterial dengan teknik stepped impedance resonator untuk mendapatkan bandwidth yang lebar dan sesuai dengan teknologi UWB, yaitu 3.1 GHz hingga 10.6 GHz. Dengan menggunakan dua bahan Substrat yang berbeda, yaitu roger RO4360 dan FR4, dapat mengetahui pengaruh dari εr. Selain itu juga distribusi arus pada simulasi desain filter mampu memperkuat teori tentang stepped impedance resonator (SIR). Dari hasil pengukuran didapatkan frekuensi cutoff dari roger RO4360 dan FR4 masing-masing 3.285 GHz dan 4.2 GHz.

Telecommunication technologies are currently growing rapidly. These technologies are developed to deliver high transmission rate. One of these technologies is Ultra Wideband (UWB) which was introduced by Federation Communication Commission (FCC), USA in 2002. A bandpass filter is used in UWB application to give the best performance and to avoid the interference from other frequencies outside UWB range. In this final project, metamaterial based bandpass filter is designed using stepped impedance resonator. This technic obtain wide range of frequency between 3.1-10.6 GHz. The proposed bandpass filter is designed on two types of substrat, namely FR4 and Roger RO4360. The using of these substrat aims to investigate the effect of εr to the performance of filter. Beside that, in order to obtain some sense of stepped impedance resonator (SIR) on filter. The filter surface current is investigated through simulation. From easurement, the cutoff frequency for Roger RO4360 and FR4 is 3.385 GHz and 4.2 GHz.
