Abstract
Industrialiasi memegang peran penting dalam meningkatnya perekonomian suatu bangsa. Kebutuhan lahan yang terus meningkat seiring dibukanya industri baru, menjadikan konversi lahan marak dilakukan. Masalah baru akan muncul jika yang terus menerus dikonversi adalah lahan pertanian produktif. Jumlah populasi yang terus meningkat tentunya juga akan meningkatkan kebutuhan pangan dan jika lahan produktif habis maka ketahanan pangan adalah sesuatu yang mustahil dicapai. Selain itu adanya industrialisasi juga membawa masalah lain seperti menurunnya kualitas lingkungan yang berdampak negatif bagi manusia yang tinggal disekitranya. Pada tugas akhir ini perancang ingin mengangkat isu bagaimana arsitektur mampu mewadahi problematika multidimensi akibat adanya industrialisasi dengan menggunakan scenario-based design melalui pendekatan distopia. Rancangan akan memadukan aktivitas pertanian dengan program ruang lainnya sesuai dengan aplikasi permaculture design dan berkontribusi kepada peningkatan kualitas lingkungan dengan sekaligus berfungsi menjadi penyerap polutan bagi area industri di sekitarnya. Selain itu, energi yang digunakan semaksimal mungkin menggunakan sumber energi yang telah tersedia. Pemilihan material dan transformasi massa memperhatikan faktor alam seperti matahari dan air hujan agar dapat menangkapnya dan memanfaatkannya sebagai energi operasional bangunan. Yang membuat rancangan “the agrarian” berbeda dengan rancangan urban farming pada umumnya adalah pengembangannya tidak terpaku pada teknologi yang telah ada saat ini, namun juga merujuk pada prinsip-prinsip fisika, kinerja benda sekitar seperti xylem dan floem, fenomena yang diprediksi akan terjadi, masalah faktual, dan belajar dari preseden-preseden baik fiksi maupun nonfiksi, yang menjadikan teknologi yang diterapkan pada the agrarioan mungkin untuk diwujudkan di masa mendatang. Rancangan ini menjadi salah satu contoh bentuk baru bagaimana urban farming dapat dikembangkan merespon skenario distopia di masa depan.

Industrialization plays an important role in a nation's economy development. The need for land continues to increase along with the ambition to opening of new industries field, making land conversion is highly use as a “quick-solution”. New problems will arise if the conversion happen to many productive agricultural land. The growing population will always increase also the need for food, and if productive land is depleted then food security is something that is impossible to achieve. In addition, industrialization also brings other problems such as the decline in environmental quality which has a negative impact on humans who live around it. In this final project, the designer wants to raise the issue of how architecture is able to accommodate multidimensional problems due to industrialization by using scenario-based design through a dystopia approach. This object will combine agricultural activities with other spatial programs in accordance with the application of permaculture design and contribute to the design of improving environmental quality while simultaneously working as a pollutant absorber for the surrounding industrial area. In addition, the energy used is as much as possible using the available energy sources. Material selection and mass transformation pay attention to natural factors such as the sun and air in order to capture them and use them as building operational energy.
What makes "the agrarian" design different from another urban farming designs in general is that its development does not rely on existing technology, but also refers to the principles of physics, the performance of surrounding objects such as xylem and phloem, phenomena that are predicted to occur in the future, factual problems, and learn from the precedents of both fiction and non-fiction vision, which make technology applied to agriculture possible in the future. This design is an example of a new form of how urban farming can be developed in response to future dystopia scenarios.
