Abstract

Seiring dengan meningkatnya pembangunan fisik kota dan pusat – pusat industri, kualitas udara telah mengalami perubahan. Perubahan kualitas udara yang terjadi disebabkan oleh masuknya zat pencemar kedalam udara dan salah satunya adalah sulfur dioksida (SO2). Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) adalah salah satu alternatif penangkap partikel pencemar dengan efisiensi tinggi. Pada penelitian ini dirancang electrostatic precipitator (ESP) menggunakan jenis elektroda plat sejajar (plate-to-plate) sebagai sistem pereduksi gas sulfur dioksida (SO2) dengan menerapkan variasi tegangan dan variasi debit gas sebagai variabel bebas dalam penelitian. Variasi tegangan yang digunakan yaitu 10 kV, 15 kV, 20 kV, 25kV serta untuk variasi debit gas digunakan 2 L/menit, 4 L/menit, dan 6 L/menit. Didapatkan nilai kemampuan reduksi (ppm) untuk variasi tegangan 10, 15, 20, 25 kV pada debit gas 2 L/menit sebesar 39 ppm, 46,6 ppm, 53,6 ppm, dan 60,2 ppm. Untuk variasi tegangan 10, 15, 20, 25 kV didapatkan nilai kemampuan reduksi (ppm) pada debit gas 4 L/menit sebesar 32,6 ppm, 42,4 ppm, 49,8 ppm, dan 58,6 ppm. Untuk variasi tegangan 10, 15, 20, 25 kV didapatkan nilai kemampuan reduksi (ppm) pada debit gas 6 L/menit sebesar 30,4 ppm, 39,8 ppm, 48 ppm, dan 57,4 ppm. Maka dapat disimpulkan, untuk variasi tegangan, kemampuan reduksi ESP paling besar didapatkan pada variasi tegangan 25 kV ketika debit gas 2 L/menit dan kemampuan reduksi ESP paling kecil didapatkan pada variasi tegangan 10 kV ketika debit gas 6 L/menit. Untuk variasi debit gas, kemampuan reduksi ESP paling besar didapatkan pada variasi debit gas 2 L/menit ketika tegangan 25 kV dan kemampuan reduksi ESP paling kecil didapatkan pada variasi debit gas 6 L/menit ketika tegangan 10 kV.

Along with the increasing physical development of cities and industrial centers, air quality has changed. Changes in air quality that occur are caused by the entry of pollutants into the air and one of them is sulfur dioxide (SO2). Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) is one of the alternative pollutant particles catcher with high efficiency. In this study, an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) was designed using plate-to-plate electrodes as a reducing system for sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas by applying voltage variations and gas discharge variations as independent variables in the study. The voltage variations used are 10 kV, 15 kV, 20 kV, 25 kV and for variations in gas discharge used are 2 L/Minute, 4 L/Minute, and 6 L/Minute. The reduction ability (ppm) for voltage variations of 10, 15, 20, 25 kV at gas discharge 2 L/minute are 39 ppm, 46,6 ppm, 53,6 ppm, and 60,2 ppm. For voltage variations of 10, 15, 20, 25 kV, the reduction ability (ppm) at gas discharge 4 L/minute are 32,6 ppm, 42,4 ppm, 49,8 ppm, and 58,6 ppm. For voltage variations of 10, 15, 20, 25 kV, the reduction ability (ppm) at gas discharge 6 L/minute are 30,4 ppm, 39,8 ppm, 48 ppm, and 57,4 ppm. So it can be concluded, for voltage variations, the highest gas reduction ability of ESP was obtained at a voltage variation of 25 kV when the gas discharge is 2 L/Min and the lowest gas reduction ability of ESP was obtained at a voltage variation of 10 kV when the gas discharge is 6 L/Minute. For variations in gas discharge, the highest reduction ability of ESP was obtained at variations in gas discharge of 2 L/Min when the voltage was 25 kV and the lowest gas reduction ability of ESP was obtained at variations in gas discharge at 6 L/Min when the voltage was 10 kV.
