Abstract

PT ARF adalah sebuah perusahan yang memproduksi rol karet pengupas gabah. Produk ini diharapkan memiliki sifat fisik berupa elongation at break dan tensile strength yang sesuai dengan spesifikasi. Tahapan terpenting dalam proses pembuatannya adalah proses mixing. Karakteristik kualitas yang yang diduga memiliki pengaruh kuat terhadap karakteristik kualitas viskositas kompon, tensile strength dan elongation at break adalah waktu mastikasi, waktu mix dan tebal nip. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan eksperimen dan optimasi menggunakan metode response surface untuk mendapatkan setting yang tepat dari tiga variabel proses tersebut sehingga didapatkan karakteristik kualitas yang sesuai dengan spesifikasi. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa tiga variabel proses tersebut mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap respon viskositas kompon, tensile strength dan elongation at break. Setting parameter yang menghasilkan respon optimal adalah waktu mastikasi 2 menit 8 detik, waktu mix 5,5 menit dan tebal nip 5 mm. Dengan setting tersebut dicapai nilai respon tensile strength sebesar 209,89 kg/cm2, elongation at break 420,94%, dan viskositas kompon 149.14 mooney unit dengan nilai desirability sebesar 0.94133

PT ARF is a company that produces rubber rollers for hulling rice. This product is expected to have physical properties in the form of elongation at break and tensile strength that meet specifications. The most important stage in the manufacturing process is the mixing process. The quality characteristics that are thought to have a strong influence on the quality characteristics of compound viscosity, tensile strength and elongation at break are mastication time, mix time and nip thickness. In this study, experiments and optimization were conducted using the response surface method to obtain the right settings of the three process variables so that quality characteristics are obtained in accordance with specifications. From the results of the study, it was concluded that the three process variables have a significant influence on the response of compound viscosity, tensile strength and elongation at break. The parameter settings that produce the optimal response are mastication time of 2 minutes 8 seconds, mix time of 5.5 minutes and nip thickness of 5 mm. With these settings, the tensile strength response value was achieved at 209.89 kg/cm2, elongation at break at 420.94%, and compound viscosity at 149.14 Mooney units with a desirability value of 0.94133
