Abstract

Stainless steel martensit AISI 431 yang mengalami proses perlakuan panas (heat treatment) pada variasi temperatur yaitu 750 OC, 850 OC, 950 OC, akan mengakibatkan terbentuknya senyawa karbida lcrom yang dapat mengakibatkan sifat perubahan mekanik dari material tersebut. Pada tugas akhir ini dipelajari sejauh mana pengaruh variasi temperatur dan walctu penahanan selama 30 menit serta laju pendinginan tertentu terhadap pembentulran presipitasi karbida dan nilai kekerasannya pada baja tahan karat martensit AISI 431, data struktur milcro yang diperoleh dengan prctice A, sedanghm pada pengujian kekerasan dilakukan pada permukaan spesimen uji sesuai standar uji jominy karena pendinginan dilakukan dengan uji jominy test hardenability dan pengujian dengan menggunakan alat uji kekerasan milcro hardness . Dari hasil tugas akhir ini diperoleh bahwa semakin tinggi temperatur maka presipitasi yang terbentuk akan semakin banyak dan juga semakin besar kandungan karbon pada stainless steel semakin tinggi tingkat presipitasi yang terbentuk , adanya presipitasi karbida juga akan menyebabkan naiknya kekerasan pada baja tahan karat (stainless steel)

AISI 431 martensitic stainless steel that undergoes heat treatment at various temperatures, namely 750 OC, 850 OC, 950 OC, will result in the formation of γ-chromium carbide compounds that can cause changes in the mechanical properties of the material. In this final project, it is studied to what extent the effect of temperature variations and holding time for 30 minutes and a certain cooling rate on the formation of carbide precipitation and its hardness value in AISI 431 martensitic stainless steel, the microstructure data obtained by practice A, while the hardness test is carried out on the surface of the test specimen according to the jominy test standard because the cooling is carried out with the jominy test hardenability test and testing using the milcro hardness tester. From the results of this final assignment, it was found that the higher the temperature, the more precipitation will be formed and also the greater the carbon content in stainless steel, the higher the level of precipitation formed, the presence of carbide precipitation will also cause an increase in hardness in stainless steel
