Abstract
Baja AISI 01 sebagai baja karbon yang memiliki kadar karbon 0,9%, cukup penting keberadaannya dalam proses pemesinan. Dengan memperbaiki sifat - sifat mekanik yang ada pada baja AISI 01 akan memberikan variasi pemilihan bahan yang lebih banyak bagi pelaku produksi dan memberikan kemudahan bagi pelaku produksi dalam proses machining baja AISI 01. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai pengaruh proses normalising yang divariasikan pada holding time dan bahan pencegah dekarburisasi. Dalam proses pelaksanaannya spesimen diletakkan dalam sebuah kotak, yang digunakan sebagai tempat penimbunan spesimen oleh bahan pencegah dekarburisasi (geram besi tuang dan arang kayu). Setelah ditimbun dalam kotak penimbun kemudian dipanaskan hingga temperatur 80rfC – 870 oc. Holding time diberikan dengan variasi waktu 30, 60 dan 120 menit dan dilakukan proses pendinginan udara. Dalam penelitian ini nilai kekerasan semakin turun seiring semakin lamanya waktu tahan dan pemberian penimbun memberi perlindungan dari decarburisasi. Nilai impaktertinggi dimiliki oleh spesimen yang tidak diberi bahan penimbun dan holding time sebesar 120 menit. AISI 01 steel as a carbon steel that has a carbon content of 0.9%, its existence is quite important in the machining process. By improving the mechanical properties of AISI 01 steel will provide a wider variety of material selection for producers and provide convenience for producers in the machining process of AISI 01 steel. This study discusses the effect of the normalizing process that is varied on the holding time and decarburization inhibitor materials. In the implementation process, the specimen is placed in a box, which is used as a storage place for the specimen by the decarburization inhibitor material (cast iron chips and wood charcoal). After being stored in the storage box, it is then heated to a temperature of 80rfC - 870 oc. Holding time is given with variations of 30, 60 and 120 minutes and an air cooling process is carried out. In this study, the hardness value decreases with the length of the holding time and the provision of filler provides protection from decarburization. The highest impact value is owned by specimens that are not given filler materials and a holding time of 120 minutes. The microstructure resulting from this heating process is spheroidal carbide in a ferrite matrix
