Abstract

The high level of pollution in Indonesia and how dangerous carbon monoxide (CO) gas is in the long term. Along with the times, many innovations have been developed to reduce high levels of CO. One of them is the use of Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) which can reduce pollutant levels using high voltage and certain gas flow rates and is environmentally friendly. In this research, reduction measurements have been carried out using CO gas. The reduction measurement is carried out by flowing smoke from the inlet tube to the outlet tube on the Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP), on its way from the inlet to the outlet, the gas will be reduced to the Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) system in which there are negative and positive electrodes for ionization, then taking data by looking at gas levels before and after exhausting. In this study, the highest reduction measurement was obtained, namely when the voltage was 25 kV with a gas flow rate of 4-6 liter/minute, the gas reduction was 73,472 %. And the lowest reduction measurement is at a voltage of 10 kV with a gas flow rate of 6-8 liter/minute, a reduction of 42,35 % is obtained. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the voltage and gas flow rate greatly affect the reduction and the voltage is directly proportional to the reduction, but the gas flow rate is inversely proportional to the reduction.
