Abstract

Sumber Pawon Forest is a protected forest that has an abundance of species diversity, ranging from tree plants to herbaceous plants. Pothos scandens Linn is one of the plants of Araceae family endemic to Java that grows in the Sumber Pawon Forest, Kediri. Pothos scandens Linn is a plant that contains flavonoid and tannins compounds that have potential as antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of tannin and flavonoid compounds contained in the plant. As well as knowing the factors that affect plants in producing phytochemical compounds. The method used in this research is the extraction of leaves and stems of the Pothos scandens Linn through the maceration methode using etanol and acetone solvents, each of which is used to test of flavonoid and tannins compounds. Furthermore, the quantification of flavonoid and tannins compounds was carried out by spectrophotometry. Based on the tests carried out, it was found that host tree 1showed the highest total flavonoid and tanin yield on all plant organs compare to host 2. The highest of flavonoids was found in host root sample 1with Total Flavonoid Content (KTF) value of 90.45  0.48 mgQE/g. Meanwhile, the lowest KTF was found in host stem sample 2, which was 39.97  0.49 mgQE/g. Meanwhile, the highest total tannin was found in the root extract of host 1, which was 48.83  0.36 mgTA/g. The lowest total tannin value was found in host leaf extract 2, which was 7.16  0.38 mgTA/g.
