Abstract
Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) tahun 2018 menyatakan bahwa kemampuan Pelajar Indonesia dalam Bidang Sains masih rendah. Salah satu penyebab rendahnya kualitas pendidikan ini adalah karena siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar. Di Indonesia sendiri, terdapat 7.621 SMP yang tidak memiliki laboratorium untuk memaksimalkan proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat kit alat peraga portabel untuk jenjang SMP sebagai objek pengukuran besaran panjang dengan mengangkat fenomena IPA yang menjadi efek aplikatif dari besaran panjang. Alat ini didesain portabel sehingga dapat digunakan dalam kelas. Proses penelitian dimulai dari mencari data primer dan sekunder lalu menganalisisnya hingga mendapat kebutuhan dan kriteria desain, kemudian mengembangkan desain hingga mendapat satu desain final, hingga akhirnya diujikan pada 4 guru dan 10 siswa menggunakan metode kuesioner. Dari pengujian tersebut didapat hasil bahwa alat peraga layak untuk digunakan, bisa digunakan di dalam kelas, serta desain dan pengalaman penggunaannya lebih baik dari alat peraga konvensional.

The 2018 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) stated that the ability of Indonesian students in the field of science was still low. One of the causes of the low quality of it is the students have difficulty in learning. In Indonesia alone, there are 7,621 junior high schools that do not have any laboratory to maximize the learning process. This study aims to create a portable teaching aid kit for the junior high school as an object of measuring length by raising the natural science phenomenon which is the applicative effect of length. This tool is designed to be portable so that it can be used in the classroom. The research process starts from finding primary and secondary data and then analyzing it to get the needs and design criteria, then developing the design to get a final design, until finally tested on 4 teachers and 10 students using the questionnaire method. From these tests, it was found that the teaching aids were feasible to use, could be used in the classroom, and the design and experience of using them were better than conventional teaching aids.
