Abstract

Silk has maintained its supremacy in the production of luxury clothing and other high-quality goods. However, the COVID-19 pandemic occurred in early 2020 which affected the international silk product industry. The International Silk Union Secretariat conducted a survey of 40 entrepreneurs and 30 silk experts with the result that 59.18% of respondents answered that the current difficulty was the decline in demand for the silk market. In addition, to produce a silk cloth requires a long process and a long time. This research was conducted to optimize the production of silk cocoons with a shorter process to be used as an alternative product in the form of women's accessories. The research methods used include primary data collection with related MSME field surveys, material exploration methods, and in depth interviews. Then the primary data that has been obtained will be analyzed to determine the intended target user and determine the most appropriate material treatment. Furthermore, the moodboard is used as a guide to the design concept and theme of the accessory.
