Abstract
Karakteristik aliran fluida yang melalui suatu diffuser adalah hal yang menarik untuk dikaji. Penelitian tentang aliran yang melalui suatu diffuser telah banyak dilakukan dan terus dikembangkan sampai saat ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh angka Reynolds dan panjang relaksasi terhadap karakteristik boundary layer, profil kecepatan rata-rata dan koefisien skin friction (CJ ) di dalam diffuser, serta koefisien tekanan (Cp) di dalam diffuser. Parameter yang divariasikan adalah angka Reynolds yaitu Re W1 = 8, 7 5. 1 rf dan Re wl = 5, 7 5. 1 rf serta panjang relaksasi divariasikan dengan ukuran 0,5 m dan 1,0 m. Titik pengukuran kecepatan ke arah vertikal dimulai pada dinding bawah diffuser hingga centre line. Titik pengukuran ke arah horizontal dilakukan dengan menggeser total pressure tube setiap 10 em dimulai dari inlet (x/L) = 0 sampai dengan x/L = 1,4. Titik-titik pengukuran tekanan statis dilakukan pada dinding diffuser bagian bawah dari sisi masukkan. Tekanan diukur dengan menghubungkan pressure tap dengan inclined manometer. Hasil yang dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah adanya kemiripan pada perkembangan boundary layer diffuser dengan perkembangan boundary layer pada entrance region aliran internal ataupun pelat datar. Pada angka reynolds, Re wJ yang tinggi, koefisien gesek (Cj) pada diffuser lebih kecil daripada Re w1 yang lebih rendah dan terjadi peningkatan harga (Cj) ketika panjang relaksasi bertambah. Pengaruh angka Reynolds terhadap distribusi tekanan, Cp lebih signifikan pada panjang relaksasi 1,0 m dibandingkan dengan panjang relaksasi 0,5 m. Pengaruh dari panjang relaksasi tehadap distribusi tekanan, Cp seolah - olah hilang pada angka Reynolds yang tinggi

The characteristics of fluid flow through a diffuser are interesting to study. Research on the flow through a diffuser has been widely conducted and continues to be developed to date. This study aims to determine the effect of the Reynolds number and relaxation length on the characteristics of the boundary layer, the average velocity profile and the skin friction coefficient (CJ) in the diffuser, as well as the pressure coefficient (Cp) in the diffuser. The parameters varied were the Reynolds number, namely Re W1 = 8.7 5.1 rf and Re wl = 5.7 5.1 rf and the relaxation length was varied with sizes of 0.5 m and 1.0 m. The vertical velocity measurement point started at the bottom wall of the diffuser to the center line. The horizontal measurement point was carried out by shifting the total pressure tube every 10 em starting from the inlet (x/L) = 0 to x/L = 1.4. Static pressure measurement points were carried out on the bottom wall of the diffuser from the inlet side. The pressure was measured by connecting the pressure tap with an inclined manometer. The results achieved in this study are the similarities in the development of the diffuser boundary layer with the development of the boundary layer at the entrance region of internal flow or flat plates. At high Reynolds numbers, Re wJ, the friction coefficient (Cj) in the diffuser is smaller than at lower Re w1 and there is an increase in the value (Cj) when the relaxation length increases. The effect of the Reynolds number on the pressure distribution, Cp, is more significant at a relaxation length of 1.0 m compared to a relaxation length of 0.5 m. The effect of the relaxation length on the pressure distribution, Cp, seems to disappear at high Reynolds numbers
