Abstract

Sistem radar dengan teknik Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) dikembangkan sebab pada radar modern memungkinkan integrasi antara bentuk gelombang radar dan sinyal komunikasi. Sinyal OFDM sering digunakan pada sinyal komunikasi karena keunggulannya yang efisien dalam pemakaian frekuensi seperti diperbolehkannya overlap antar frekuensi karena masing-masing sudah saling orthogonal. Namun, pada penelitian ini Radar OFDM hanya memiliki satu antena yang berperan sebagai transmitter dan receiver. Dimana pada sistem ini terdapat fenomena echo eclipse yang didefinisikan sebagai hilangnya sebagian data disisi penerimaan sehingga terdapat ambiguitas pada jarak target. Untuk mengatasi fenomena tersebut, maka digunakan kode Golay complementary sequence. Hal utama keunggulan digunakan kode Golay yaitu mereka dapat menjadi kode ortogonal yang saling melengkapi serta dapat membedakan simbol asli dan simbol yang datang dari target yang berbeda. Pada tugas akhir ini dilakukan pengkajian penggunaan kode Golay pada sistem Radar OFDM terhadap fenomena echo eclipse. Pengujian dilakukan dengan 2 skema yaitu skema 1 yang meliputi pendeteksian terhadap 1 target dan 2 target lalu dilihat level side lobe dari hasil korelasi di domain waktu. Kemudian skema 2 hanya pendeteksian terhadap 1 target lalu dikorelasikan secara terpisah antara simbol 1 dan 2 di domain frekuensi dengan tujuan untuk memverifikasi kebenaran yang terdeteksi oleh simbol 1 dan 2 terhadap jarak target. Kesimpulan dari hasil simulasi yang dibuat terlihat bahwa pada skema 1 adanya fenomena echo eclipse dapat menurunkan daya atau magnitudo sebesar 30% dan memiliki perbedaan side lobe dengan main lobe hanya 3 dB. Namun, dengan penggunaan kode Golay dapat menurunkan level side lobe sebesar 8% sampai 23% sehingga perbedaan antara side lobe dan main lobe lebih jauh sampai 6 dB, hal tersebut dapat mengatasi tingkat ambiguitas target. Dari hasil skema 2 menunjukkan saat jarak 0 – 7.5 km terdeteksi oleh simbol 1 dilihat dari hasil korelasi daya yang lebih tinggi terletak pada simbol 1 dan saat jarak 7.5 – 15 km terdeteksi oleh simbol 2 dilihat dari hasil korelasi daya yang lebih tinggi terletak pada simbol 2.

Radar systems using the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technique were developed because modern radars allow integration between radar waveforms and communication signals. The OFDM signal is often used in communication signals because of its efficient frequency usage advantages, such as allowing overlap between frequencies because each is orthogonal to the other. However, in this study, the OFDM Radar only has one antenna that acts as a transmitter and receiver. In this system, an echo eclipse phenomenon is defined as the loss of some data on the reception side, so the target distance is ambiguous. To overcome this phenomenon, the Golay complementary sequence code is used. The main advantage of Golay codes is that they can be complementary orthogonal codes and can distinguish the original symbols and symbols that come from different targets. In this thesis, an assessment of the use of Golay code in the OFDM Radar system is assessed on the echo eclipse phenomenon. The test is carried out with two schemes, namely scheme one, which includes the detection of 1 target and 2 targets, and then the side lobe level is seen from the correlation results in the time domain. Then scheme two only detects 1 target and correlates separately between symbols 1 and 2 in the frequency domain to verify the truth detected by symbols 1 and 2 against the target distance. The conclusion from the simulation results shows that in Scheme 1, the echo eclipse phenomenon can reduce the power or magnitude by 30% and has a side lobe difference of only 3 dB from the main lobe. However, using the Golay code can reduce the side lobe level by 8% to 23% so that the difference between the side lobe and main lobe is further up to 6 dB; this can overcome the level of target ambiguity. From the results of schematic 2, it shows that when a distance of 0 – 7.5 km is detected by symbol 1, it can be seen from the results of the higher power correlation, which is located in symbol 1, and when a distance of 7.5 – 15 km is detected by symbol 2, it can be seen from the results of the higher power correlation which is located in symbol 2.
