Abstract

Penelitian ini mengevaluasi pengaruh variasi laju aliran (flow) pada kolom resin penukar ion (Ion Exchange Resin Column) terhadap kualitas filtrasi air PDAM. Parameter yang diukur meliputi pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), kekeruhan (turbidity), dan konduktivitas listrik (EC). Kombinasi resin Strong Acid Cation (SAC), Weak Acid Cation (WAC), dan Strong Base Anion (SBA) digunakan dalam sistem filtrasi ini. Hasil pengujian terbaik berada pada variasi komposisi 3 dengan variasi flow 1 dengan kecepatan flow 0,57 L/min menunjukkan bahwa, pH air hasil filtrasi berada dalam standar (6,56), TDS menurun 71% dari 173,38 PPM menjadi 49,83 PPM, , sementara turbidity mengalami penurunan sebesar 99% dari 45,04 NTU menjadi 0,25 NTU, dan Electrical Condcutivity menurun 71% dari 0,35 μs/cm menjadi 0,10 μs/cm, Efektivitas pertukaran ion mencapai 80%, mengindikasikan perlunya optimasi sistem untuk meningkatkan efisiensi filtrasi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa meskipun kualitas air hasil filtrasi sebagian besar memenuhi standar, peningkatan TDS menunjukkan kebutuhan perbaikan, seperti regenerasi resin, laju aliran yang lebih optimal, dan evaluasi kapasitas resin untuk hasil yang lebih konsisten.

This study evaluates the effect of flow rate variations on ion exchange resin columns on the quality of PDAM water filtration. The parameters measured include pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), turbidity, and electrical conductivity (EC). A combination of Strong Acid Cation (SAC), Weak Acid Cation (WAC), and Strong Base Anion (SBA) resins was used in this filtration system. The best test results were obtained with composition variation 3 and flow variation 1 at a flow rate of 0.57 L/min, showing that the pH of the filtered water was within the standard (6.56), TDS decreased by 71% from 173.38 PPM to 49.83 PPM, while turbidity decreased by 99% from 45.04 NTU to 0.25 NTU, and Electrical Conductivity decreased by 71% from 0.35 μs/cm to 0.10 μs/cm. Ion exchange effectiveness reached 80%, indicating the need for system optimisation to improve filtration efficiency. This study concluded that although the quality of the filtered water largely met standards, the increase in TDS indicated a need for improvements, such as resin regeneration, more optimal flow rates, and evaluation of resin capacity for more consistent results.
