Abstract

Sedimentation is a major problem that often occurs in reservoirs in Indonesia, including the Wlingi Reservoir. This study aims to analyze the sedimentation rate by determining the volume of sediment entering the reservoir, where sediment accumulation will be addressed through sedimentation management planning. The sedimentation rate analysis uses the USLE method, which considers the conditions of the reservoir catchment area, and the Englund-Hansen sediment transport method, which considers the conditions of the sediment flowing into the reservoir. Meanwhile, the hydrological analysis is conducted using the HEC-HMS approach and Nakayasu's Synthetic Unit Hydrograph. Sedimentation values will be evaluated based on the reservoir's outflow requirements and technical data on the reservoir's dead storage. The results of the study show that the conditions of the Wlingi Reservoir catchment area are generally still relatively good, with a dominance of very light erosion (55.76%) and light erosion (43.96%), and only 0.28% of the area classified as moderate erosion. However, with a catchment area of approximately ±74,968 ha, small-scale erosion accumulation still contributes to sediment supply to the reservoir in the long term. The results of the USLE analysis show that the annual sedimentation rate of the Wlingi Reservoir ranges from 36,930 to 52,136 m³/year, with a sediment thickness of approximately 0.049 to 0.070 mm/year.This sedimentation is classified as moderate and cumulative. Over a period of approximately five years, the accumulated sediment is estimated to reach 200,000–260,000 m³, which has the potential to reduce the effective storage volume. The recommended sedimentation management is periodic dredging every five years with a target volume of around 250,000 m³, which needs to be combined with sustainable DTA management and conservation using a cutter suction dredger based on effectiveness and without disrupting the utilization of the reservoir. It is hoped that the results of this analysis will provide recommendations for addressing sedimentation occurring at the Wlingi Reservoir in Blitar.
