Abstract

Lahan gambut berperan penting dalam fungsi hidrologi dan penyimpanan karbon, sehingga informasi ketebalan gambut diperlukan sebagai dasar pengelolaan tata air, perencanaan pemanfaatan lahan, dan mitigasi degradasi pada ekosistem gambut. Penentuan ketebalan gambut umumnya dilakukan melalui pengeboran karena memberikan informasi stratigrafi secara langsung, namun bersifat titik sehingga untuk menggambarkan sebaran ketebalan secara spasial diperlukan banyak titik bor yang berdampak pada waktu dan biaya. Penelitian Tugas Akhir ini menerapkan metode geofisika aktif Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) untuk mengidentifikasi batas lapisan gambut dan memperkirakan ketebalannya secara cepat dan non destruktif berdasarkan respon gelombang elektromagnetik. Pengukuran dilakukan pada 28 lintasan (AU1–AU28) di Lapangan AU, Kecamatan Rasau Jaya, Kabupaten Kubu Raya, Kalimantan Barat menggunakan antena 80 MHz. Data diolah menjadi penampang radargram 2D melalui tahapan pemrosesan sinyal meliputi background removal, bandpass filter, gain, serta konversi time to depth dengan parameter dielektrik gambut. Interpretasi batas gambut dilakukan pada setiap lintasan, kemudian dievaluasi kemenerusannya melalui kompilasi antar lintasan untuk memperoleh gambaran sebaran ketebalan pada area penelitian. Hasil interpretasi menunjukkan ketebalan gambut berada pada rentang 3,2–4,6 m yang termasuk kategori Very Deep Peatland dengan ketebalan relatif seragam dan kemenerusan lapisan cenderung datar pada lokasi kajian. Hasil ini menunjukkan GPR efektif sebagai metode pendukung pemetaan ketebalan gambut pada skala lapangan, serta disarankan integrasi data bor untuk validasi dan peningkatan ketelitian interpretasi.

Peatlands play an important role in hydrological functions and carbon storage; therefore, information on peat thickness is needed as a basis for water management, land-use planning, and mitigation of degradation in peatland ecosystems. Peat thickness is commonly determined through drilling because it provides direct stratigraphic information; however, drilling is point-based, so describing the spatial distribution of thickness requires many boreholes, which increases time and cost. This final-year research applies the active geophysical method Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to delineate the peat layer boundary and rapidly estimate peat thickness in a non destructive manner based on electromagnetic wave responses. Measurements were carried out along 28 survey lines (AU1–AU28) at the AU Field, Rasau Jaya District, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, with using an 80 MHz antenna. The data were processed into 2D radargram sections through signal-processing steps including background removal, bandpass filtering, gain, and time to depth conversion using peat dielectric parameters. Peat boundaries were interpreted for each line, and their continuity was evaluated by compiling the interpretations across lines to obtain an overview of thickness distribution within the study area. The results indicate that peat thickness ranges from 3.2 to 4.6 m which falls into the Very Deep Peatland category, with relatively uniform thickness and a generally flat layer geometry at the site. These findings show that GPR is effective as a supporting method for field-scale peat thickness mapping, and the integration of borehole data is recommended for validation and improved interpretational accuracy.
