Abstract

Health information websites for pregnant women play a crucial role in providing access to accurate, user-friendly information that aligns with the biological and psychological conditions of their users. The development of such systems requires an approach that not only ensures technical functionality but also emphasizes user needs and experiences. However, to date, there is still limited research that directly compares the effectiveness of Design Thinking, Scrum, and User-Centered Design (UCD) approaches in the context of developing health information systems for pregnant women. This study was conducted as a comparative research to evaluate the extent to which each development approach is able to produce optimal system quality. The study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design, involving three development teams, each applying a different system development approach. System quality evaluation was conducted based on the eight characteristics of the ISO/IEC 25010 standard and was complemented by user experience measurement using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). The results indicate that Design Thinking achieved the best overall performance, excelling in Functional Suitability (0.90), Usability (4.72), Compatibility (0.95), Maintainability (rating A; technical debt ratio of 0.8%), and Portability (0.96). Scrum demonstrated superior performance in technical aspects, particularly Performance Efficiency (4.995) and Reliability (4.87), while UCD showed stable results with strengths in Security (3.16) and Reliability (4.78). Based on the comparative analysis, Design Thinking is considered the most effective approach for developing health information websites for pregnant women, as it is able to holistically balance functional, technical, and user experience aspects. This approach is therefore deemed most suitable for health information systems intended for users with complex informational and emotional needs.
