Abstract

Pada tahun 1971, musik rock merupakan aliran musik yang didengarkan di seluruh dunia. Akan tetapi, seiring waktu musik rock tidak lagi sepopuler pada tahun 1970-an. Generasi saat ini, khususnya mulai dari generasi Z, tidak lagi banyak yang mendengarkan musik rock. Preferensi aliran musik generasi Z saat ini, yaitu EDM, pop, dan hip hop, membuat musik rock semakin jarang dinikmati. Bahkan beberapa artikel web telah mengangkat isu yang mempertanyakan eksistensi musik rock saat ini. Tentu saja musik rock masih ada dan memiliki peminat walaupun tidak sebanyak pada tahun 1971. Akan tetapi, hal ini membuat banyak orang yang tidak tahu menganggap musik rock hanya sekadar musik yang bersuara keras atau ribut. Oleh karena itu, peneliti merancang video eksplainer motion grafis tentang sejarah musik rock pada tahun 1971 bagi generasi Z untuk memberi pengetahuan bahwa musik rock adalah bentuk kebudayaan kaum muda. Diketahui bahwa kelompok generasi Z yang tertarik dengan musik rock biasanya menyukai lagu yang menimbulkan perasaan nostalgia dan lirik yang jujur. Oleh karena itu, setelah dilakukan riset menegenai sejarah musik rock tahun 1971 kemudian seluruh informasi disusun ke dalam sebuah naskah yang berisi informasi tentang judul lagu, sub-aliran rock lagu-lagu tersebut, dan beberapa lirik lagu. Naskah kemudian diserahkan kepada ahli sejarah musik rock dan kolektif musik rock untuk dikritik dan divalidasi. Sementara visual dari video eksplainer yang dirancang dibuat sesuai dengan karakteristik yang dimiliki oleh musik rock, yaitu umumnya menggunakan warna hitam dan merah, serta bersifat agresif dan kasar. Dengan arahan animator, peneliti dapat menghasilkan sebuah video eksplainer motion grafis tentang sejarah musik rock pada masa kejayaannya, yaitu pada tahun 1971 bagi generasi Z. Video eksplainer ini mencakup informasi tentang sub-aliran musik rock, beberapa musisi rock, dan pemutaran beberapa lagu rock. Video eksplainer kemudian diunggah ke platform media sosial YouTube dengan melakukan promosi melalui Instagram. Diketahui dari pandangan generasi Z bahwa video eksplainer ini cukup efektif dalam memberi pengetahuan tentang sejarah musik rock tahun 1971 sehingga dapat dipakai sebagai sumber pengetahuan, referensi penelitian selanjutnya, dan dokumentasi sejarah musik.

In 1971, rock music was a genre of music listened to worldwide. However, over time, rock music has become less popular than it was in the 1970s. The current generation, especially Generation Z, no longer listens to rock music as much. Generation Z's current musical preferences, namely EDM, pop, and hip hop, have made rock music less popular. Several web articles have even raised issues questioning the existence of rock music today. Of course, rock music still exists and has fans, although not as many as in 1971. However, this has led many people who are unaware of it to think that rock music is just loud or noisy music. Therefore, researchers designed a motion graphic explainer video about the history of rock music in 1971 for Generation Z to provide knowledge that rock music is a form of youth culture. It is known that the Generation Z group interested in rock music usually likes songs that evoke feelings of nostalgia and honest lyrics. Therefore, after conducting research on the history of rock music in 1971, all the information was compiled into a script containing information on song titles, the rock sub-genres of the songs, and some of the song lyrics. The script was then submitted to rock music historians and rock collective for critique and validation. Meanwhile, the visuals for the designed explainer video were made to suit the characteristics of rock music, namely generally using black and red colors, and an aggressive and rough nature. With the animators’ guidance, researchers were able to produce a motion graphic explainer video about the history of rock music during its heyday, namely in 1971 for generation Z. This explainer video includes information about rock music sub-genres, several rock musicians, and playback of several rock songs. The explainer video was then uploaded to the YouTube social media platform with promotion through Instagram. It is known from the views of generation Z that this explainer video is quite effective in providing knowledge about the history of rock music in 1971 so that it can be used as a source of knowledge, a reference for further research, and documentation of music history.
