Abstract
Menurut teori arsitektur ruang sakral, sebagaimana digagas A.T.

The sacred space architectural theory as proposed by A.T. Mann proposes that architecture is not a lifeless object, but a symbolic body that moves in harmony with cosmic rhythms. Breathing life into the community and receiving life from it. Meanwhile, ritual theory states that repetitive actions, when internalized and imbued with meaning, have the power to elevate the profane into the sacred. This project stems from the intersection of these two theories, where ritual is used as a tool for the sacralization of space, transforming the profane into the sacred. If such connection between theories exists, what happens if sacred architecture is not only built for religious rituals, but also manifested and preserved through ritual itself? Based on those theories, this project aims to propose a sacred space design where the construction and preservation of such space is ritualized. This project is developed through the sacralization of space method in which ritual is established as an element of sacralization whilst also being a design criterion. By choosing the Trusmi Kabuyutan Complex in Cirebon as the design location, this project integrates local customs of roof renewal (Ganti Sirap & Ganti Welit) tradition as an integral design element. Through these rituals, the local community cultivates a strong sense of attachment to the spaces they collectively build, maintain, and preserve. The project allows worship and sacredness to be manifested through communal physical labor grounded in spiritual intention. The resulting spaces enable the community to worship and pray through the acts of making, repairing, and caring with their own hands.
