Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh implementasi preventive maintenance terhadap pertumbuhan keandalan sistem Dryer Kiln serta mengoptimalkan interval preventive maintenance yang efisien, ekonomis, dan tetap menjamin keberlanjutan operasi pada fasilitas pengolahan nikel PT Vale Indonesia Tbk. Analisis keandalan dilakukan pada enam komponen utama Dryer #1 dan Dryer #3, yaitu Pinion & Bull Gear, Main Drive, Burner System, Internal, Apron Feeder, dan Shell & Drum, menggunakan parameter mean time between failures, mean time to repair, dan physical availability berdasarkan data operasi periode 2020–2024. Model Crow-AMSAA digunakan untuk menilai reliability growth masing-masing komponen dan sistem, sedangkan konfigurasi keandalan ditentukan melalui evaluasi 406 kombinasi seri–paralel dengan pemilihan berdasarkan Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi preventive maintenance berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan pertumbuhan keandalan, khususnya pada Dryer #3 yang menunjukkan penurunan laju kegagalan pada seluruh komponen. Profil keandalan dengan preventive maintenance memperlihatkan peningkatan stabilitas dan penurunan frekuensi kegagalan dibandingkan tanpa pemeliharaan. Evaluasi interval preventive maintenance terhadap 729 kombinasi waktu menunjukkan bahwa interval minimum memberikan performa keandalan terbaik untuk lima komponen utama, sementara Shell & Drum dapat diperpanjang hingga 300 hari tanpa menurunkan Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) atau meningkatkan biaya Cost per Unit Time (CPUT) secara signifikan. Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa optimisasi interval pemeliharaan mampu mencapai keseimbangan antara biaya pemeliharaan yang minimal dan tingkat keandalan sistem yang tinggi. Hasil penelitian ini merekomendasikan peningkatan sistem preventive maintenance berbasis monitoring kondisi, evaluasi berkala interval pemeliharaan, strategi perawatan khusus untuk komponen termal kritis pada Dryer #3, serta integrasi model keandalan ke dalam sistem digital twin untuk mendukung pengambilan keputusan pemeliharaan berbasis data.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of preventive maintenance implementation on the reliability growth of the Dryer Kiln system and to optimize preventive maintenance intervals that are efficient, economical, and capable of ensuring sustainable operations at the nickel processing facilities of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk. Reliability analysis was conducted on six major components of Dryer #1 and Dryer #3, i.e., Pinion & Bull Gear, Main Drive, Burner System, Internal, Apron Feeder, and Shell & Drum, using mean time between failures, mean time to repair, and physical availability parameters based on operational data from 2020–2024. The Crow-AMSAA model was employed to assess the reliability growth of individual components and the system, while reliability configuration was determined by evaluating 406 series–parallel combinations based on the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) criterion. The results indicate that preventive maintenance has a positive impact on reliability growth, particularly for Dryer #3, which exhibits a declining failure rate across all components. The reliability profile under preventive maintenance also demonstrates improved stability and reduced failure frequency compared to the no-maintenance scenario. Evaluation of preventive maintenance intervals across 729 combinations shows that minimum intervals provide the best reliability performance for five main components, whereas the Shell & Drum interval can be extended up to 300 days without significantly affecting Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) or increasing Cost per Unit Time (CPUT). These findings confirm that optimized maintenance intervals can effectively balance minimal maintenance cost with high system reliability. This study recommends strengthening condition-based preventive maintenance, conducting periodic reassessment of maintenance intervals, implementing targeted thermal component maintenance strategies for Dryer #3, and integrating reliability models into digital twin systems to support data-driven maintenance decision-making.
