Abstract

The SME "SORGTIME," a producer of sorghum-based diet coffee, faces the challenge of selecting the most appropriate distribution strategy to efficiently expand its market reach. This study aims to analyze distribution expansion strategies through two alternative channels: electric bicycles and vending machines, as a basis for optimal investment decision-making. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach through investment and operational cost analysis, revenue projections, and financial feasibility evaluation using Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PP), and Benefit-Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio) indicators. Furthermore, the study employed a SWOT analysis to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each distribution method, as well as a sensitivity analysis to test the strategy's resilience to changes in market variables. The results show that both distribution methods have distinct characteristics and market potential. Electric bicycles excel in flexibility and direct interaction with consumers, while vending machines are stronger in efficiency and scalability. In terms of financial feasibility, vending machines provide higher NPV and IRR values in a stable demand growth scenario. Based on the comprehensive analysis, the optimal distribution strategy is a hybrid model that combines the advantages of both methods to reach the market broadly and sustainably. This research provides strategic recommendations for MSMEs in designing data-based distribution expansion and investment efficiency.
