Abstract

This study was conducted at the Health Science Building construction project, Campus A, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, to evaluate the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices, with a specific focus on work risk control using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method. Construction projects are inherently associated with high levels of hazard exposure and accident risk, necessitating the application of a structured and sistematic safety management approach. The research employed field observations, structured interviews with project personnel, and a review of secondary data derived from project safety documentation. The analysis involved decomposing construction activities into discrete work tasks, identifying potential hazards, assessing risk levels qualitatively, and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented control measures in accordance with the hierarchy of controls. The results indicated the presence of several high-risk hazards during structural work activities, including material handling incidents, falls from height, and heavy equipment failure. Following the implementation of risk control measures, all identified hazards were reduced to medium or low risk levels. In addition, all OSH-related activities were fully implemented in compliance with the Construction Safety Plan (RKK). These findings provide empirical evidence of the effectiveness of Job Safety Analysis as part of a Construction Safety Management Sistem in reducing occupational risk levels and improving safety performance in building construction projects.
