Abstract

PT Gemala Kempa Daya is a manufacturing company engaged in the automotive sector. To support the company activities, PT Gemala Kempa Daya has a finished goods warehouse specifically for storing pressed parts. However, there are activities that do not add value to the finished goods, such as workers who have to repeatedly move and arrange goods. In addition, workers must find locations for product storage when products enter the warehouse and find locations for products to be stored when products are needed to be shipped. To solve these problems, it is necessary to reduce and/or eliminate non-value added activities using a lean warehousing approach. Value Stream Mapping and Process Activity Mapping tools will be used to identify waste. Next, identify critical waste with Genba Shikumi tools and identify root causes of critical waste using 5 Why's Analysis. Based on the findings of the root causes of waste, recommendations for improvement will be proposed such as using polybox as containers to store finished goods, designing a barcode system to record information related to stock, location and some other important information, as well as designing goods tags that are integrated with barcodes. With the proposed improvement, it is possible to eliminate non-value added activities and it is estimated that it can reduce the processing time of the warehouse finished goods by 3181 seconds.
