Abstract

In the era of digital transformation, technology plays a crucial role in supporting national energy resilience and achieving the strategic objectives of PT XYZ as an energy company, thereby requiring reliable and sustainable information system management. In this context, the critical Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which integrates the company’s business processes, requires assured availability through the implementation of Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) policies, including the execution of switchover to the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC). This study employs an Action Research (AR) method comprising the phases of diagnosing, action planning, taking action, evaluating, and specifying learning to identify the main constraints in switchover execution, design a zero-downtime simulation procedure, and evaluate the results of its implementation. The findings indicate that the method or process factor constitutes the largest source of constraints (48%), while the zerodowntime simulation procedure is effective in reducing overall switchover constraints by 68% and method-related constraints by 87.5%. These findings provide practical contributions by recommending the revision of DR and BCP policies through the inclusion of zero-downtime simulations as a routine activity, as well as theoretical contributions by reinforcing the application of AR to enhance the reliability of ERP-based critical systems.
