Abstract

Pada penelitian ini, adsorben dibuat dengan mengaktivasi karbon aktif dari kulit pisang dengan H3PO4 selama 180 menit pada suhu ruang. Adsorben dimanfaatkan untuk menurunkan konsentrasi Kromium (VI) pada larutan aqueous. Konsentrasi optimum aktivator H3PO4 yang digunakan adalah 5 M dengan hasil kadar air dan kadar abu terendah sebesar 4,78% dan 2,86%. Karbon aktif yang dihasilkan digunakan untuk adsorpsi Kromium (VI). Filtrat hasil adsorpsi diukur dengan Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA) pada panjang gelombang maksimum 357,9 nm. Hasil menunjukan adsorben dapat menurunkan kadar Kromium (VI) sebesar 53,49%. Karbon aktif teraktivasi H3PO4 5 M digunakan untuk adsorpsi Kromium (VI) dengan variabel pengukuran pH adsorbat dan waktu kontak. Persen penurunan Kromium (VI) tertinggi didapatkan pada pH 2 dan waktu kontak 300 menit dengan nilai masing – masing 67,43% dan 68,49%.

This study uses carbon from banana peel activated by H3PO4 for 180 minutes at room temperature as an adsorbent. Adsorbent was used to reduce Chromium (VI) concentration in aqueous solution. Optimum concentration of H3PO4 activator that used was 5 M with water and ash content results are 4,78% and 2,86%. Actived carbon was used as an adsorbent for Chromium (VI) adsorption. The adsorption’s filtrate was measured with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) at maximum wavelength at 357,9 nm. The results showed that adsorbent could reduce the Chromium (VI) concentration by 53,49%. H3PO4 activated carbon then used to reduce Chromium (VI) concentration with the variation of adsorbate’s pH and contact time. The highest %removal of Chromium (VI) was obtained at pH 2 and contact time 300 minutes of 67,43% and 68,49% respectively.
