Abstract

Imidazola 1 merupakan senyawa heterosiklik lima atom dengan tiga atom karbon dan dua atom nitrogen pada posisi pertama dan ketiga. Imidazola 1 memiliki struktur yang unik dan kaya akan elektron sehingga imidazola 1 dan berbagai turunannya dikembangkan untuk memberikan aktivitas biologis yang beragam diantaranya adalah antiepilepsi, anti-mikroba, antioksidan, antikanker, antiinflamasi, antibakteri, antijamur, antivirus, dan antituberkular. 5,5-Difenil imidazolidin-2,4-dion 8 adalah turunan imidazola yang telah digunakan dalam penanganan epilepsi. Subtitusi atom nitrogen pada cincin imidazola 1 dapat menghasilkan struktur dengan bioaktivitas yang lebih baik dari senyawa induknya. Gugus geranil dalam berbagai senyawa dilaporkan dapat memberikan aktivitas yang beragam (antifungal, antibakteri, inhibitor α-glukosidase dan 5α-reduktase). Sehingga, penelitian yang dilakukan ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendapatkan senyawa 3-geranill-5,5-difenilimidazolidin-2,4-dion 17 yang diperoleh dari geranilasi 5,5-difenilimidazolidin-2,4-dion 8. Metode penelitian dilakukan melalui sintesis 2-hidroksi-1,2-di(fenil)etanona 21, 1,2-difeniletan-1,2-dion 19, 5,5-difenilimi-dazolidin-2,4-dion 8, dan 3-geranill-5,5-difenilimidazolidin-2,4-dion 17. Penelitian telah berhasil mendapatkan 2-hidroksi-1,2-di(fenil)etanona 21 dengan rendemen 60%, 1,2-difeniletan-1,2-dion 19 dengan rendemen 79%, 5,5-difenilimidazolidin-2,4-dion 8 dengan rendemen 23%, dan 3-geranil-5,5-difenilimidazolidin-2,4-dion 17 dengan rendemen 17%.

Imidazole 1 is a five-atom heterocyclic compound with three carbon atoms and two nitrogen atoms in the first and third positions. Imidazole 1 has a unique structure and is rich in electrons so that imidazole 1 and its various derivatives were developed to provide diverse biological activities including antiepileptic, anti-microbial, antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antitubercular. 5,5-Diphenyl imidazolidine-2,4-dione 8 is an imidazole derivative that has been used in the treatment of epilepsy. Substitution of the nitrogen atom in the imidazole ring 1 can produce a structure with better bioactivity than the parent compound. Geranyl groups in various compounds have been reported to provide various activities (antifungal, antibacterial, -glucosidase and 5α-reductase inhibitors). Thus, the aim of this research was to obtain the compound 3-geranill-5,5-diphenimidazolidin-2,4-dione 17 which was obtained from the geranylation of 5,5-diphenimidazolidine-2,4-dione 8. The research method was carried out through the synthesis of 2 -hydroxy-1,2-di(phenyl)ethanone 21, 1,2-diphenylethane-1,2-dione 19, 5,5-diphenylimi-dazolidine-2,4-dione 8, and 3-geranill-5,5 -diphenimidazolidine-2,4-dione 17. Research has succeeded in obtaining 2-hydroxy-1,2-di(phenyl)ethanone 21 with a yield of 60%, 1,2-diphenylethanol-1,2-dione 19 with a yield of 79%, 5,5-diphenimidazolidine-2,4-dione 8 with a yield of 23%, and 3-geranil-5,5-diphenimidazolidine-2,4-dione 17 with a yield of 17%.
