Abstract

Pada penelitian ini telah dibuat plastik biodegradable dari campuran polimer pati jagung dan HDPE dengan variasi komposisi polimer pati jagung 10%, 20%, 30% dan 40%. Polimer pati jagung yang digunakan dibuat dengan metode casting dengan komposisi pati 10 g, gliserol 3 mL dan aquades 100 mL. Polimer pati jagung dan HDPE dicampurkan dengan metode ekstrusi menggunakan mesin injection molding dengan tekanan 150 kgf/cm². Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa penambahan polimer pati jagung mempengaruhi karakteristik plastic biodegradable yang telah dibuat. Setiap penambahan 10% polimer pati jagung pada HDPE menurunkan kekuatan tarik sebesar 1,043 MPa, menurunkan elongasi sebesar 5,02%, menurunkan densitas sebesar 0,013 g/cm3, meningkatkan nilai derajat penggembungan sebesar 0,793%, dan meningkatkan laju biodegradasi sebesar 0,03 mg/hari. Analisis statistik Kruskal-Wallis menunjukkan bahwa sampel plastik biodegradable terbaik adalah sampel dengan komposisi 30% polimer pati mg/hari.

In this study, biodegradable plastics have been made from a mixture of corn starch polymer and HDPE with varying composition of corn starch polymer at 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%. The corn starch polymer used is made by the casting method with a composition of 10g starch, 3 mL glycerol and 100 mL aquades. Corn starch polymer and HDPE are mixed by extrusion method using an injection molding machine with a pressure of 150 kgf /cm². The characterization results show that the addition of corn starch polymer affects the characteristics of the biodegradable plastics that have been made. Each addition of 10% corn starch polymer to HDPE lowers the tensile strength by 1.043 MPa, lowers the elongation by 5.02%, lowers the density by 0.013 g/cm3, increases the swelling degree by 0.793%, and increases the rate of biodegradation by 0.03 mg/day. The Kruskal-Wallis statistical analysis showed that the best biodegradable plastic sample was that with a composition of30% corn starch polymer. This sample had a tensile strength of 12.822 MPa, an elongation of 13.431%, a swelling degree of 0.22%, a density of 1.12 g/cm3 and a biodegradation rate of 0.21 mg/day.
