Abstract

Lack of water availability is still a major problem on Sumba Island, East Nusa Tenggara. Locations that are often affected by water shortages are in Central Sumba Regency. In 2014, a hydrogeological mapping was carried out by the Ministry of PUPR (Public Works and Spatial Planning) in the Sumba Island area, East Nusa Tenggara, but the hydrogeological study was still lacking in detail and evenly. Further research was conducted on the hydrogeological system in the karst morphology of Central Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara to identify the presence of aquifers and model their distribution. The research location is in the Kananggar Formation and the Waikabubak Formation which are spread over 3 parts of the region. The study used a one-dimensional geoelectric Schlumberger configuration carried out at 28 measurement points with a track length of 400 meters. The research location is in karst hills, residential areas, and close to springs at an elevation of about 410 - 470 m with a depth of up to 100 meters. The results of the study show that the karst morphology is at an elevation of about 390 to 500 meters above sea level in the central part of the Central Sumba Regency. Aquifers in karst morphology have resistivity values between 60-100 m (Kuswanto, 2005 and Torrase, 2019). The aquifers in the study area have a depth of up to about 30 meters and some locations have quite shallow aquifers with a depth of about 1 - 14 meters. Recommendations for drill locations are carried out by analyzing topographic maps, river flow maps, and data analysis. There are 11 drill locations spread over the research location.
