Abstract

Indonesia is very prone to earthquakes because it is located above 3 tectonic plates, namely the Indo-Australian plate, the Eurasian plate, and the Pacific plate. An earthquake with a magnitude greater than 6.0 Mw has the potential to generate a tsunami. The Flores Tsunami disaster in 1992 was one of the largest tsunami disasters in Indonesia. Flores has a great potential for tsunamis because there is a Flores back-arc thrust which is often become the epicenter of earthquakes in Flores sea with a magnitude above 6.0 Mw. Tsunami modelling was carried out with 3 earthquake scenarios namely a 6.0 Mw earthquake, the highest historical earthquake 7.9 Mw, and the highest earthquake based on a 100-year return period calculated using the Weibull distribution of 8.65 Mw. The modeling was done with 25 observation points using Delft3DFLOW and DelftDashboard software. The modeling results show that the maximum wave height reaches 5.78 meters for the greatest scenario and the greatest average is 2,69 meters.
