Abstract

Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is a derivative of Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET), a dynamic network of wireless devices without a fixed infrastructure, which was developed for high-speed vehicle devices with specific routes. Unfortunately, the implementation of VANET in the real world still faces difficulties to do so a lot of research has been done by simulating VANET using mobility generators and network simulators. This final project examines the performance of the VANET scheme generated by the SUMO and C4R mobility generators. This research uses the NS-2 network simulator with AODV reactive routing protocol. The VANET scheme simulation uses a grid-shaped map and a real map of Surabaya with varying numbers of vehicles. This study uses an assessment matrix of Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), End-to-End Delay (E2ED), and Routing Overhead (RO). Based on the three assessments, the performance of SUMO mobility scenarios is superior to that of the C4R. SUMO has higher PDR and RO values than C4R’s, indicating the superiority of the SUMO scenario in packet delivery. Meanwhile, SUMO’s E2ED values are lower than C4R’s indicating that scenarios produced by SUMO have lower packet delivery delay.
