Abstract

Seasickness is a health problem that is often experienced by ship passengers. Symptoms of seasickness can be felt by passengers due to unpredictable ship movements at sea. These movements are caused by several things such as the waves, acceleration of the ship, and many others. The human balance system which consists of the vestibular system of the inner ear, eye, skin and muscles will capture all movements experienced by the body, but the perception difference of the human balance system causes seasickness symptoms to arise. In this study, a Virtual Reality (VR) based software designed to neutralize the symptoms of seasickness by equalizing the perception of the human body's balance system. This software aims to visualize the environmental conditions on the deck of a moving ship so that information on ship movement received by the eye has the same perception as other members of the human balance system. The software uses the output of Machine Learning in form of predictive results of visualization of the ship movements. In this study, the VR software was successful in testing the functional requirements that have been designed and ready to be tested for the general public.
