Abstract
Prokrastinasi akademik merupakan kecenderungan mahasiswa untuk menunda penyelesaian tugas akademik meskipun menyadari adanya konsekuensi negatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh faktor internal dan faktor eksternal terhadap prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa Fakultas Vokasi Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) angkatan masuk 2022 dan 2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 197 mahasiswa dari enam departemen yang dipilih menggunakan teknik stratified sampling berdasarkan angkatan masuk. Data dikumpulkan melalui survei kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa umumnya memiliki tingkat motivasi belajar sebesar 50%–75%, dengan variasi pola penggunaan gawai nonakademik, durasi tidur, dan lama pengerjaan tugas antar departemen. Mayoritas mahasiswa tidak bekerja sambil kuliah dan cenderung menentukan prioritas tugas berdasarkan deadline. Lebih dari setengah responden tergolong sebagai prokrastinator akademik. Analisis SEM-PLS menunjukkan bahwa faktor internal lebih dominan memengaruhi prokrastinasi akademik dibandingkan faktor eksternal. Kepribadian menjadi faktor internal yang paling berpengaruh, dengan indikator dominan berupa kemalasan, sedangkan pada faktor eksternal, kondisi kelembagaan menjadi faktor yang paling berpengaruh, khususnya terkait organisasi mata kuliah yang kurang terstruktur. Model penelitian mampu menjelaskan 51,9% variasi prokrastinasi akademik dan memiliki kemampuan prediktif yang kuat dengan nilai Q² sebesar 0,508.

Academic procrastination refers to students’ tendency to delay completing academic tasks despite being aware of the negative consequences. This study aims to analyze the influence of internal and external factors on academic procrastination among students of the Faculty of Vocational Studies at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), specifically those admitted in 2022 and 2023. A quantitative approach was employed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The research sample consisted of 197 students from six departments, selected using stratified sampling based on the year of entry. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey. The results indicate that students generally exhibit a moderate level of learning motivation, ranging from 50% to 75%, with variations in non-academic gadget usage, sleep duration, and task completion time across departments. Most students do not work while studying and tend to prioritize tasks based on deadlines. More than half of the respondents are classified as academic procrastinators. The SEM-PLS analysis reveals that internal factors have a more dominant influence on academic procrastination than external factors. Personality emerges as the most influential internal factor, with laziness as the dominant indicator. Meanwhile, among external factors, institutional conditions are the most influential, particularly with regard to poorly organized courses. The research model explains 51.9% of the variance in academic procrastination and demonstrates strong predictive relevance, as indicated by a Q² value of 0.508.
