Abstract

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered strain of coronavirus first in Wuhan, China. Indonesia experienced the peak of the second wave of COVID-19 to be precise from May to July 2021. At the time of this second wave, the condition of the COVID-19 isolation drill and ICU in Indonesia was filled by an average of 82%. The COVID-19 isolation drill in East Java reached 83% or filled with 12,873 out of a total of 15,591 beds. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 ICU drill reached 79% or filled with 1,065 out of a total of 1,342. The second wave in Surabaya peaked on July 16, 2021 with 7,831 positive confirmed cases and 351 deaths. One of the referral hospitals in handling COVID-19 in East Java is Airlangga University Hospital which has the second most ICU capacity in Surabaya. This study aims to analyze cox regression on the severity of covid-19 patients at Airlangga University Hospital Surabaya with the observed event, namely when the patient enters ICU. After conducting an analysis using the Cox Proportional Hazard method because all variables have met the assumptions, it was concluded that the factors that influence the severity of COVID-19 include age, gender, lymphocyte levels, and symptoms of tightness. Patients aged ≥50 years were 2,143 times more likely to experience severity, male patients were 1,806 times more likely to experience severity, patients who had abnormal lymphocyte levels were 3,734 times more likely to experience severity, and patients who experienced symptoms of tightness were 1,833 times more at risk of experiencing severity. Keywords: ICU Bed Occupancy Rate, COVID-19, Severity Rate, Cox Regression.
