Abstract
Tube drain superheater merupakan salah satu komponen
dari Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). Komponen
ini berfungsi sebagai saluran pembuangan sisa uap basah
yang berada dalam heat exchanger sebelum HRSG
beroperasi. Terdapat kasus kegagalan tube drain
superheater (terkorosi) setelah dua puluh tahun beroperasi
berupa kebocoran. Kerusakan ini mengakibatkan tube drain
superheater harus diganti dengan yang baru. Kasus
kegagalan serupa harus dihindari, sehingga dilakukan
penelitian analisa kegagalan pada tube drain superheater.
Penelitian diawali dengan observasi lapangan untuk
mencari informasi mengenai bentuk dan lokasi kerusakan
tube drain superheater. Selanjutnya pengambilan data
operasional dan material yang meliputi standar operasional
(SOP), historis perawatan serta material tube drain
superheater. Observasi pada permukaan dalam dan luar tube
drain superheater meliputi pengambilan gambar,
pengukuran ketebalan, serta instalasi isolasi untuk
mengetahui perubahan fisik yang terjadi akibat kerusakan.
Beberapa pengujian dilakukan pada sampel tube drain
superheater seperti metalografi untuk memperjelas bentuk
kerusakan, serta uji pada kerak menggunakan X-Ray
Diffraction supaya diketahui unsur pembentuknya.

Abstrak
Tube drain superheater is one component of Heat Recovery
Steam Generator (HRSG). The function of this component is as a
wet steam sewerage which exists inside heat exhanger before
HRSG operates. There is a case of failure of tube drain super
heater (corrosion case) after twenty years of operation in the form
of leakage. This damage has resulted in the replacement of tube
drain superheater. In order to avoid this similar case of failure, a
research analysis of failure is executed.
The research begins with the field observation in order to look
for informations about the form and the site of tube drain
superheater’s damage. The next is preempting operational and
material data including operational standard (SOP), treatment’s
histories, and tube drain superheater material. The observation on
the inside and outside’s surface of tube drain superheater includes
picturing, measuring of thickness, and insulation installation data
retrieval to determine the physical changes that occur due to
damage. Some testing are done on tube drain superheater samples
such as metallographic to clarify the form of damage, as well as
tests on the crust using X-Ray Diffraction to find out the forming
elements
The damage of tube drain superheater does not begin from the
inside, indicated by a surface in which there is no defect and is still
in the range of operating parameters permit. The hole that assumes
with leakage is caused by the decreasing of thickness progressively
which begins on the outside’s surface of tube drain superheater in
consequence of corrosion. The corrosion is caused by the reaction
