Abstract
Mahasiswa baru Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) angkatan 2024 memiliki latar belakang akademik dan kebiasaan belajar yang beragam sehingga berpotensi memengaruhi capaian nilai Mata Kuliah Dasar Sains (MDS). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik nilai MDS mahasiswa, mengevaluasi kestabilan proses pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan Statistical Process Control (SPC), serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi nilai MDS menggunakan regresi linier berganda dengan variabel dummy. Data penelitian diperoleh dari mahasiswa baru ITS angkatan 2024 jalur SNBT pada Fakultas FT-IRS, FK, dan FDKBD. Analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk menggambarkan karakteristik data, sedangkan peta kendali variabel digunakan untuk mengevaluasi kestabilan proses pembelajaran. Hasil uji ANOVA menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara FT-IRS dan FK dengan FDKBD. Analisis SPC menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran berada dalam kondisi terkendali secara statistik dengan sebagian besar departemen memiliki nilai indeks kapabilitas proses Cp dan Cpk kurang 1 yang mengindikasikan bahwa proses pembelajaran 100% telah berjalan tidak stabil dan tidak memenuhi standar capaian akademik yang ditetapkan. Hasil regresi menunjukkan bahwa kualitas pembelajaran MDS dipengaruhi secara signifikan oleh skor TPA, waktu belajar, tingkat kesulitan, metode belajar dengan diskusi kelompok, serta minat MDS. Faktor yang meningkatkan capaian akademik meliputi skor TPA, waktu belajar, dan penerapan diskusi kelompok, sedangkan faktor yang menurunkan capaian akademik berasal dari tingginya tingkat kesulitan pembelajaran dan minat non-matematika. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran MDS perlu difokuskan pada penguatan kesiapan akademik mahasiswa, penerapan metode pembelajaran aktif, serta pengurangan kesenjangan latar belakang akademik agar capaian pembelajaran dapat lebih optimal dan merata.

First-year students of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) from the 2024 cohort have diverse academic backgrounds and learning habits, which may affect their achievement in Basic Science Courses (MDS). This study aims to analyze the characteristics of students’ MDS scores, evaluate the stability of the learning process using the Statistical Process Control (SPC) approach, and identify factors influencing MDS achievement using multiple linear regression with dummy variables. The research data were obtained from first-year ITS students of the 2024 cohort admitted through the SNBT pathway at the FT-IRS, FK, and FDKBD faculties. Descriptive analysis was used to describe data characteristics, while variable control charts were applied to evaluate the stability of the learning process. The ANOVA results indicate a significant difference between FT-IRS and FK compared to FDKBD. The SPC analysis shows that the learning process is statistically under control; however, most departments have process capability index values (Cp and Cpk) below 1, indicating that the learning process has not met the established academic performance standards. The regression results show that the quality of MDS learning is significantly influenced by TPA scores, study time, perceived difficulty level, group discussion learning methods, and students’ academic interests. Factors that contribute to the improvement of academic achievement include TPA scores, study time, and the implementation of group discussions, while factors that reduce academic achievement are high perceived learning difficulty and non-mathematics-oriented academic interests. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that improving the quality of MDS learning should focus on strengthening students’ academic readiness, implementing active learning strategies, and reducing disparities in academic background to achieve more optimal and equitable learning outcomes.
