Abstract

PT.

PT. Boma Bisma Indra (Persero) is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) engaged in engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication of large-scale industrial components, particularly in support of the energy and infrastructure sectors. The industrial internship was carried out in the Engineering Department of PT. BBI, with a special assignment focusing on the static loading analysis of the Jig silo tank structure used in the Floor 7 Project of PT Direxa Engineering. This jig functions as a structural support element during the fabrication and installation of the silo tank; however, the design in use was an older design that had not been numerically validated, raising concerns about potential structural deformation due to dead loads, live loads, and additional loads arising from work activities on the platform area. The analysis was carried out using two approaches, namely manual calculation based on engineering mechanics principles and numerical simulation using the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method with ANSYS 2024 R2 software, referring to the ASME Section VIII Division 1 and ASME Section II Part D standards, with SS400 material (yield strength of 245 MPa). The manual calculation results show a maximum normal stress of 64.140 MPa, a deflection of 0.4567 mm, and a safety factor of 3.81, while the FEA simulation results show a maximum von Mises stress of 122.4 MPa, a maximum deflection of 1.84 mm, and a safety factor of 2.00. Both results remain within safe limits, as the deflection value is well below the required deflection threshold (L/250 = 20 mm) and the safety factor exceeds the recommended minimum value (1.5). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Jig silo tank structure is feasible and safe for use in the fabrication process, with the recommendation that stricter inspection and quality control be applied at the main joint points.
