Abstract

The development of the transportation revolution from fossil fuels to electric vehicles accompanied by advances in digital technology has become a new requirement for one of the components in the E-Scooter, such as the Multi- Information Display (MID). Multi-Information Display is a product of the application of the Human Machine Interface (HMI) in the automotive sector. HMI is a system that connects human and machine technology, through an interface that allows us to interact with digital systems. MID has an important role in a vehicle because there is a variety of information needed to stay safe while driving. The amount of information contained in the MID requires a good interface design to be easily read by the driver. As in the current MID E-Scooter brand X display which has a fairly complex and disorganized order of information arrangement. Based on these problems, a research was conducted by designing the MID E-Scooter brand X interface for optimizing user convenience when driving. This study uses the Five Stages Design Thinking Model proposed by the Hasso-Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford which consists of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Tests were carried out using a Feedback Capture Grid, Feature Score, Convenience Parameter Score and System Usability Scale (SUS). From this research it was found that the factors that affect the level of convenience in a two-wheeled vehicle MID include Accuracy, Security, and Reminder. The problem with the design of the MID E-Scooter brand X interface was answered by creating three display modes, namely Default, Intermediate and Advance, and adding a switcher button to change these modes. Several features are also added and updated as innovations based on user preferences and needs. In the end, user convenience optimization was carried out to get the quality of the Multi-Information Display prototype which was considered able to answer user problems from the existing MID interface design.
