Abstract

The welding of the TB1014 bogie transom is a critical process in railway manufacturing, as it determines the strength and reliability of the bogie structure. This report aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Yaskawa Motoman AR2010 welding robot compared with manual welding in the TB1014 bogie transom welding process. The analysis was conducted through production process observation, comparison of welding parameters, macro test results, and productivity evaluation of both welding methods. The results indicate that robotic welding produces more uniform weld penetration, neater weld joints, and more consistent weld quality than manual welding. In addition, the robotic welding process requires only 51 minutes per transom, whereas manual welding requires 125.6 minutes. Robotic welding achieves a productivity of 1.18 transoms/hour with an output of 6 units per day, while manual welding produces 0.48 transoms/hour with an output of 4 units per day. Therefore, the implementation of the Yaskawa Motoman AR2010 welding robot effectively improves production efficiency and welding quality in the manufacturing process of the TB1014 bogie transom at PT INKA (Persero).
