Abstract

The hydrogen peroxide industry generates wastewater that has the potential to cause environmental pollution if it is not treated properly. One of the most commonly applied treatment methods is the coagulation–flocculation process, which is used to remove colloidal particles and dissolved contaminants. However, the improper dosage of coagulants and flocculants can lead to increased sludge generation, reduced treatment efficiency, and higher operational costs due to greater sludge handling and disposal requirements. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze the optimal dosage of coagulants and flocculants in order to reduce sludge generation without compromising effluent quality. The methods employed included direct observation at the industrial wastewater treatment plant, data collection, process simulation, and laboratory analysis of dosage variations. The results demonstrated that optimizing the coagulant and flocculant dosages improved the efficiency of the wastewater treatment process by reducing sludge generation while maintaining effluent quality in compliance with environmental discharge standards.
