Abstract

The background of this research is that the subgrade on Jalan Kertajaya in the East Surabaya area is clay in which clay can reduce its carrying capacity due to its high water content. Of course this will cause construction problems because of the varying soil mass. To improve the clay needs to be stabilized. Stabilization with high calcium fly ash based geopolymer with addition of 10%, 20% and 30%. The geopolymer content used refers to previous studies with 70% fly ash and 30% alkali (NaOH and Na2SiO3). against shear and compression is an effort made to increase soil resistance The type of research in this study is quantitative with the method of collecting data through direct testing at the Transportation and Geotechnical Laboratory (LTG) ITS Manyar Campus. Tests were carried out using physical and mechanical soil test methods. The tests include sieve analysis, hydrometer, atterberg limit as a physical test and proctor test, unconfined compression test (UCT), and Swelling test potential. The results of the research data are modeled in FEM-based applications, namely Plaxis V21 and Geo 5 to determine the value of the safety factor and soil subsidence The results of the research carried out can be concluded that the initial clay has physical and mechanical characteristics including having a volume weight of 1.65 gr/cm3; the water content reached 29.33%, the pore number was 1.08; porosity 0.52; dry volume weight of the soil is 1.28; compressive strength value of 0.61; swelling potential of 3.68% and specify gravity of 2.655 which includes organic clay and also has a plasticity index of 37.94%. The addition of geopolymer affects the results of physical and mechanical properties of clay. the most optimum water content is found in the variation of 30% 3 days by 23.75%; the most optimum void ratio is found in the variation of 10% 1 day of 0.89; the most optimum porosity is found in the variation of 10% 1 day of 0.47; The most optimum dry volume weight was found in the variation of 20% 7 days of 1.37; the most optimum specify gravity is found in the variation of 20% 7 days of 2,692; The most optimum compressive strength is found in the variation of 20% 7 days at 3.49 kg/cm2; ; The most optimum swelling potential is found in the variation of 30% 7 days at 0.47%; and the most optimum plastic index value was found in the variation of 10% 7 days of 23,28%. From the recapitulation results of the optimum value for each test, the most optimum value for the addition of geopolymer fly ash was found at the variation level of 20% 7 days.
