Abstract
Magang ini dilaksanakan di PT. Petro Jordan Abadi, sebuah perusahaan manufaktur kimia yang memproduksi asam fosfat dengan produk samping berupa purified gypsum. Salah satu permasalahan operasional yang diidentifikasi di lapangan adalah tingginya kadar air (H₂O) pada produk purified gypsum, yang mencapai lebih dari 20%. Kondisi ini melampaui ambang batas spesifikasi yang disyaratkan oleh konsumen di industri semen, yakni maksimal 15%. Oleh karena itu, studi ini berfokus pada upaya penyelesaian masalah (troubleshooting) tersebut melalui perancangan spesifikasi alat Flash Dryer. Tahapan perancangan mencakup perhitungan neraca massa dan neraca energi, penentuan spesifikasi alat pendukung, serta analisis kelayakan ekonomi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa implementasi Flash Dryer secara teknis mampu menurunkan kadar air gypsum hingga memenuhi standar spesifikasi secara efisien. Selain itu, berdasarkan parameter penaksiran harga dan manfaat ekonomi tahunan, perancangan alat ini dinyatakan layak secara finansial untuk diimplementasikan pada skala industri.

This internship was conducted at PT. Petro Jordan Abadi, a chemical manufacturing company that produces phosphoric acid alongside a by-product of purified gypsum. One of the operational issues identified in the plant is the high moisture content (H₂O) of the purified gypsum product, which exceeds 20%. This condition surpasses the maximum threshold of 15% required by consumers in the cement industry. Therefore, this study focuses on troubleshooting the issue by designing the specifications for a Flash Dryer unit. The design stages encompass mass and energy balance calculations, supporting equipment specification determination, and an economic feasibility analysis. The evaluation results indicate that the implementation of a Flash Dryer is technically capable of efficiently reducing the gypsum moisture content to meet the standard specifications. Furthermore, based on equipment cost estimation and annual economic benefits, the design is deemed financially viable for industrial-scale implementation.
